Butterfly Series Origins
This exclusive series of framed butterfly art was created by imagesurgery founder Joseph Warren in 2007. The debut exhibition at Medcalf Gallery in London’s Exmouth Market generated widespread national press coverage and high-profile commissions. Over the years, the collection has expanded into a range of sizes and formats, and has been exhibited across major European cities, the US, and Japan. The series is no longer in production, but the few remaining pieces available are shown below.

The Flapping Wing
The concept behind this series stems from ideas of fragility and a love of vintage cartography. By pairing the delicate form of the butterfly with the intricate detail of printed maps, the artwork creates something that is both visually stunning and rich with deeper meaning. Discover how these themes inspired the collection in our Butterfly Effect journal entry.

On the reverse of the cabinet, you’ll find a maker’s plate bearing a unique identification number that guarantees the authenticity of your one-off artwork. A sturdy hanging bracket of our own design enables your artwork to fit flush against the wall with no visible fixings. Every order is carefully packed and shipped worldwide in protective artwork packaging.
